Thank you in German

By

Say Thank You in German

Has your Grandmother ever told you to always say to always be polite, mind your P and Q and always say please and thank you? Well mine has, and it is important to be polite anywhere you end up in the world.

“Vielen Dank” is a great place to start when learning your manners. This means Thank you in German. Pronounced (DAHNK-uh). You can use this form of thank you in any situation and it will be perfectly appropriate. However if you want to impress and/or want to make the thank you more sincere You can say, “”danke sehr” (DAHNK-uh zehr) or “danke schön” (DAHNK-uh zehr) which simply means thank you very much. Then there are “many thanks” “vielen dank” (FEE-lehn DAHNK) or even “Tausend Dank” (TOW-zent DAHNK) “thanks a thousand”.

When speaking with someone that is highly respected or of your superior you can use the phrase “ich danke Ihnen” ick DAHNK-uh EEN-ehn. The “Ich” in the phrase is the Germans 2nd person pronoun and shows respect and importance.

Examples of how to say Thank You in Germaan
