Challis Hot Springs – Idaho
Idaho is full of hidden hot springs for you to enjoy. One such located in Salmon River Valley and a little over 2 hours from Idaho Falls is Challis Springs. The resort hosts two different natural hot springs pools and with the scenic backdrop of the wilderness and the Salmon River, you’ll never want to leave this tranquil and relaxing facility.
The first pool at Challis Hot Springs is known as the large pool. It feels more primitive as it has a gravel bottom where the geothermal waters come up from. The resort keeps the temperature at roughly 101 degrees. The second pool is known as therapy hot springs and also has a gravel base. It’s slightly warmer hovering at 106 degrees year round. Due to the constant natural water coming up, it maintains its cleanliness without needing much chemicals.
Challis Hot Springs is considered a bed and breakfast. You are welcome to make a reservation to stay on site or use the nearby campsite for tent or rv camping. Access to both hot springs are free for overnight guests. Clothing is required so make sure you bring a bath suite. As far as amenities there is a changing room, showers, and restrooms available.

From Idaho Falls, Idaho
1. Start on Highway 20 West towards Custer County and Hot Springs Road (143 miles)
2. Turn onto Hot Springs Road and continue for 5 miles until you reach your destination
