Belle Isle Aquarium – Detroit Michigan
This Detroit aquarium is one of the oldest facilities in the United States. It did close for 7 years between 2005 and 2012 and now operates through a non profit group.
The facility is one giant room with 60 different exhibits. They have roughly 150 different species of marine life with most being local to the Great Lakes area. The volunteers who run the aquarium continually try to bring in new fish from all over the world.
