Best Hiking Trails in Colorado
With over 50 mountain peaks ranging above 14k in feet, dozens of national and state parks, and countless wilderness and urban hiking trails, Colorado is one of the best states to get outside and explore mother nature. Even though you may only picture hiking in the state as scaling a mountain, there are many regions to also explore such as:
- Red Rocks formations similar to what you’d see in Utah
- Prairies and meadows as far as the eye can see
- Urban parks in every city
- Front range and mountain lakes
- rocky mesas and tundra in the northern part of Colorado
In total there is almost 40,000 miles of hiking trails in Colorado ranging from the easy stroll to testing all your strength and skills. No matter the time of year, there are great paths and trails to take to get out and about as you enjoy everything Colorado has to offer. The national and state parks make it easily accessible to enjoy a day outdoors until you are ready to head out into the wilderness and discover the hidden gems found all throughout the forests (waterfalls, hot springs, etc…)
Below we will cover several of our favorite trail hikes in the state. From south in Pueblo, Durango, and Colorado Springs, to up north in Fort Collins, Vail, and Steamboat, there is no excuse to not take advantage of all Colorado has to offer. Happy Hiking!
