German Words for Gay

“Schwuchtel” which translates literally to mean “sissy”. This term can also be used as an insult or a slur depending on the context it is being said in.

“Tunte” which means queer or effeminate man. It can also be seen as derogatory when directed at someone who identifies as LGBTQ+.

“Regenbogenfahne” which translates directly into English for rainbow flag, but it implies that someone belongs to this community by using a term from their flag symbolically.

The use of religious terms such as Sodomit (Sodomite) or Abomination (Abominationer) are also considered highly offensive when referring to individuals who identify within the LGBT+ community.

“Knabenschänder” meaning boy molester; although it does not necessarily imply sexuality itself but rather insinuates pedophilia instead.

There are also slang terms such as bimbo or fiffi that might be heard among younger generations
