Boat Box Hot Springs, located near Riddle, Idaho, is a unique and beautiful place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The hot springs are nestled in an area of high desert surrounded by rolling hills and sagebrush, providing a peaceful atmosphere that allows visitors to reconnect with nature. The natural spring water is heated by geothermal activity deep beneath the earth’s surface. It flows through several pools before reaching Boat Box Hot Springs where it reaches temperatures up to 105F (40C).

Boat Box Hot Springs metal caldron is a unique and special way to enjoy the healing benefits of the mineral waters. This large tub has a pipe that feeds the natural water in and can adjust to the temperature you prefer. Visitors can also choose from two soaking areas – one for larger groups or families and another for smaller groups or couples. Both offer stunning views of the surrounding terrain as well as plenty of space to spread out towels or blankets on the smooth rocks lining each pool.

A variety of amenities make Boat Box Hot Springs even more enjoyable, including picnic tables and fire pits for cooking meals, restrooms with showers nearby for easy access after swimming, trash cans throughout the grounds, and a large parking lot close by for convenience when arriving or departing from this lovely spot.

In addition to simply relaxing in its warm waters, visitors also have many other activities they can partake in such as hiking around nearby trails like Blackrock Canyon Trailhead which offers spectacular views of both sides of Snake River Valley, fishing along Snake River itself, boating on Lake Lowell just eastward, andbird watching with over 200 species identified within 20 miles from Boat Box Hot Springs

Location and Map of Boat Box Hot Springs

To get to Boat Box Hot Springs from Challis, take US-93 north for approximately 1 mile and turn left onto a dirt road known as Cougar Creek Road (Forest Service Road 071).

Continue on this road for about 16 miles until you reach the trailhead at the end of the road.

From here, follow signs along an easy to moderate 2 mile hike that will lead you down into a canyon and eventually to Boat Box Hot Springs.

The springs are nestled among pine trees next to a small creek with beautiful mountain views all around. Enjoy!
