As one of the oldest discovered hot springs in Alaska, Manley Hot Springs will take you back in time and let you relax and unwind within a greenhouse of flowers, fruits, and vegetables. It’s truly one of the most unique experiences you can have when enjoying a hot soak in Alaska.
History of Manley Hot Springs
The springs itself dates back to the early 1900s where it was originally a vegetable farm. When the US army moved in to the location due to setting up a telegraph station, Manley Hot Springs started growing in popularity for a place to go after a long day.
Soon after a resort hotel was built which featured 40 plus rooms, restaurant, and giant swimming pool. Unfortunately it only lasted 6 years and burned down. It was never reconstructed and as time went own, the resort slowly became more popular as a ghost town than a hot springs destination.
Manley Hot Springs Pools
There are three tubs for you to enjoy, all located within the greenhouse. The water is fed directly in and keeps a constant temperature. There is a small fee to access the springs, but well worth it to experience this oasis like atmosphere.
Manley Hot Springs Accommodations
There are a couple options to stay the night after enjoying a nice soak. First is Manley Roadhouse which has modern rooms and gives you the option of either a communal room or luxury private quarters. The Roadhouse also offers amenities such as a restaurant and bar. The second option are cabins to rent which are towards the wooded area, but within walking distance to most attractions.
Getting to the Manley Hot Springs
It’s fairly easy to get to this amazing springs. Most locals will say it’s one of the most beautiful drives that takes you through Minto Flats and a wide variety of wildlife.
