Apostle Islands Camping Details and Map

Address: 85150 Trailer Ct, Bayfield, WI 54814
Phone: 715-779-5524
Website: aiacamping.com
Type: Primitive
Campsites: varies by island
Amenities: Picnic Tables, Fire Pits (most are primitive with just you and your gear)

To camp on the Apostle Islands isn’t as easy as just driving up and parking. The mainland campground is only accessible by hiking the Lakeshore Trail (6 miles) or by kayak. For the different islands, you’ll need to use a kayak, boat, or water taki to reach your destination. Reservations are required so plan your camping trip ahead of time as spots fill up fast.

Most of the campsites are very primitive so you won’t find any amenities such as bathrooms or showers. There aren’t specific locations, but rather a guide of designated areas you can pitch your tent. There are a few individual campsites available that do have a few amenities such as a fire pit and picnic tables. Whichever you choose you will have some of the best views of Lake Superior during the day, and a beautiful starry sky at night. Happy Camping!
