Those looking for a peaceful camping weekend getaway with scenic views of God’s country, Black River State Forest is the perfect destination. Campers can enjoy secluded campsites with many activities such as ATVs, hiking, hunting, and fishing. Put away the technology for a couple days and re-connect with the great Wisconsin outdoors.

There are three main campgrounds located in Black River State Forest:

Castle Mound Campground

There are 35 campsites for you to choose from, including a couple dozen that include electrical hook-ups. Each campsite is nestled in its only little section of woods and include a firepit and picnic table for you to enjoy. Close by bathrooms and showers are available. During the winter, only a handful are plowed so be prepared for a little cross country skiing if you still want to enjoy mother nature.

East Fork Campground

As the most primitive camping area in Black Forest State Park, there are 24 secluded areas for you to pitch a tent. When you aren’t sleeping under the stars, you are right next to the river to enjoy some fishing or kayaking. Bathrooms and showers are available nearby.

Pigeon Creek Campground

Another underdeveloped campsite with 38 different areas for you to choose from. No electrical hookups are available here. People enjoy this campground for it’s closeness to a beach and many hiking trails throughout the park. Restrooms and showers are available.
