Georgia Waterfalls Map

The southern states of America are home to countless amounts of waterfalls that you can enjoy. Although most have been documented and mapped out for you to find, there are still many that are tucked away in the wildernesses that only a handful of people know about. Georgia is one of those states where it seems each time you go on a hike you stumble upon another cascading falls that reminds you just how beautiful mother nature is. With the scenic landscapes and surrounding wildlife, it’s important to try and provide you with a map of the best waterfalls Georgia has to offer so you can add several to your bucket list of things to do.

We’ve learned there are over 500 different falls throughout the state, but with most not too well known or visited we will try and provide our top favorite and let you discover the rest on your own. Happy Exploring!

At first glance you’ll notice on the map that most of Georgia’s waterfalls are within the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest and border Tennessee and the Carolinas. To give an idea of distance, Google Maps has most falls within a 2 hour drive from Atlanta, Ga. Luckily there is ample camping around northern Georgia and we highly recommend making it a weekend trip in order to take advantage of enjoying several waterfalls in a span of 48 hours. Of course 2 hours isn’t that long of a drive and many locals and tourists will head out early in the morning to make a day trip to see the falls as well.

During the spring to fall months, some of these locations can become quite crowded as people try and beat the heat with a nice soak in a swimming hole so use the map above to try and find a lesser known waterfall and reconnect with mother nature as intended. Cell reception can also be hit or miss when driving to most of these waterfalls so also recommend you carry an actual map on you at all times to make sure you don’t miss a trailhead or go the wrong direction.
