Las Olas Beach, Florida

Las Olas Beach – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

By

This small strip of sandy beach is located just north of Fort Lauderdale’s more popular beach spots. Las Olas gives visitors a classic Fort Lauderdale beach experience without too much of the crowds and bustle.

Locals and tourists know the beach as having clean shores and clear water, so snorkeling or swimming activities are perfect here.

Activities

Sunbathing, jet skiing, swimming, sunbathing, sightseeing, marine life viewing, and volleyball are popular at Las Olas.

There are ample places to rent water sports gear and beach equipment, so keeping your crew entertained shouldn’t be too hard.

If you are looking for a more raucous party, then wait for the sun to set. That is when the younger crowd takes to this 24-hour beach and let loose.

Amenities

The small beach does lack some of the amenities you might be accustomed to at more popular destinations, but they do offer showers, volleyball courts, and bathrooms.

There are also places to set up for a quick picnic lunch or just get away from the sun, with tables and shaded areas dotting the small shoreline.

Nearby you will find Las Olas Boulevard, a charming, walkable stretch of street that offers shopping and dining options.

Just a quick trip inland, and you will find the Museum of Discovery and Science, Fort Lauderdale’s family-friendly discovery museum.

Near the beach, you will also find Las Olas Oceanside Park. This 2-acre green space is a bastion of nature and hosts community events and festivals throughout the year.

Fun Facts

Las Olas translates to “the waves” in Spanish.

On the Intracoastal side of the island, you will be able to gander at some amazing decked out and expensive sea-yachts at the strip of luxury properties that border the water.
