Welti Falls

Welti Falls

By

Welti Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Etowah County, Alabama. The falls drop down over 60 feet and are surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife. The area around the falls is part of Welti Recreation Area, which offers visitors plenty of outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and picnicking. The falls were named after William Eltzroth Welti who owned the land from 1866 to 1918. During his time here he used the land for timber harvesting and farming but also enjoyed fishing in nearby creeks. After his death in 1918 his family continued to own the land until it was sold off for recreational use in 1990s.
