Triphammer Falls

By

Triphammer Falls is a spectacular waterfall located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. The name “triphammer” comes from an old mill that used to be operated at this site by John Triphammer, who was a local businessman during the early 1800s. The mill harnessed power from the fast-flowing waters of Fall Creek, allowing it to operate for many years before being shut down in 1824 due to financial hardship. Today, visitors can still see evidence of Triphammer’s work as they explore this unique natural wonder.

At over 40 feet high and 300 feet wide, Triphammer Falls is impressive no matter how you approach it – whether hiking along trails or taking a boat tour across Ithaca’s Cayuga Inlet! Visitors can also take advantage of several viewing platforms that offer stunning views of this majestic waterfall as well as nearby wildlife such as birds and deer which often make their home near these rushing waters. In addition to providing magnificent sights, Triphammer Falls also serves up plenty of recreational opportunities for those looking for some outdoor fun! From fishing and kayaking around its base or simply admiring its beauty while picnicking along its banks – there’s something here for everyone!

Additionally, hikers will find miles upon miles worth exploring within nearby state parks like Taughannock Falls State Park where visitors can traverse winding boardwalks while taking in views that stretch out across scenic gorges carved out by centuries-old glacial activity. No matter what type of experience you’re after – whether it’s sightseeing or adventure – you won’t regret visiting Triphammer Falls when traveling through Upstate New York! This stunning natural wonder continues to inspire generations with its powerful cascades and tranquil surroundings.
