The ski area has two main lifts that access five different runs ranging from easy greens to challenging double black diamonds. The longest run at Cloudmont Ski Resort is 1,000 feet long with an elevation drop of 350 feet. The terrain consists of mostly intermediate runs with some beginners runs too. Beginner skiers can get comfortable on one of the gentle sloping green trails while experienced skiers can test their skills on some of the steeper black diamond runs. Whether you’re looking to take a leisurely run down a groomed slope or shred some fresh powder off piste, there is something here for everyone.
The ski resort also offers an abundance of amenities and activities such as a full-service restaurant and bar, ski rentals, lessons with certified instructors, snow tubing , and night skiing.
Cloudmont Ski Resort also offers tubing for those who want a fun ride down the mountain. There’s even a special tube conveyor system that allows tubers easy access back up the hill after each run. At night time when the ski resort’s slopes are closed, make sure you head over to their snow tube area and continue enjoying Alabama’s only snow resort under the lights! This activity takes place every Thursday through Saturday evenings during the winter season until 9:00 pm each evening (weather permitting).

The Talladega National Forest provides miles of backcountry terrain that is perfect for cross-country skiing. The most popular destination for heli-skiers near Alabama is probably Ruby Mountain Heli Ski Adventures in Lamoille, Nevada.
Located just over 1,000 miles away from Birmingham (the largest city in Alabama), this premier skiing spot offers skiers access to more than 70 square miles of untouched powdery slopes. With elevations ranging from 8,500 feet to 12,200 feet above sea level, Ruby Mountain provides plenty of challenge for even the most experienced skier or snowboarder. The terrain includes steep chutes and open bowls as well as tree runs.
Ruby Mountain also has its own fleet of helicopters which makes getting up into those remote areas much easier. Prices vary depending on how many days you want to stay and how many people are going with you, but typically range from around $1,800-$2,500 per person for a three day package which includes meals and lodging.
