Shacktown Waterfall is located in the North Carolina mountains near the town of Robbinsville and is considered one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the area. It is a breathtaking sight, with a large waterfall cascading down from a sheer cliff face into a deep pool below.

Details about Shacktown Falls
The waterfall itself stands at about 15 feet tall which is still quite impressive for it’s location. From afar though, Shacktown Waterfall looks even more majestic as it stand above its surroundings. Its waters are crystal clear and inviting for jumping in on a hot summer day, although certain times of the year you may run into fairly strong currents so be mindful of your surroundings. The water depth around the falls is shallow enough (1-3 feet) making it safe for people of all ages to enjoy.
There is plenty of shade around the falls, but it’s still recommended to bring some sunscreen. Most people tend to stay 2-3 hours so it is also a good idea to bring some snacks and water.
Hiking Trails around Shacktown Falls
There is only one trail path around this waterfall known as Yadkin Park Trail. It’s roughly a 4 mile in-and-out path that is an easy hike for any age. The only moderate thing we could think of is there is a slight elevation change. It’s not a very popular hike so most likely you won’t see others during your 90 minute stroll through the park.
Camping around Shacktown Falls
Sadly this primitive area doesn’t allow any camping around the waterfall. In fact there are no campgrounds in Shore-Styers Mill Park. The closest options around about 20 miles away where you can choose between tent or rv campgrounds.
