Hiking Trails at Kent Falls

The Kent Falls Trail is a 1.3-mile loop that takes you around the base of Kent Falls. This trail offers spectacular views of both the cascading waterfall and surrounding forested areas. It’s also relatively easy to traverse, making it great for novice hikers or families with young children who want to experience nature up close without too much difficulty.

The East Aspetuck Trail is a 2-mile out-andback hike that follows along an old roadbed through dense woods before reaching open meadows near Lake Waramaug State Park. Along this route you’ll see gorgeous wildflowers blooming in season and have plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife like deer, birds, beavers, otters, foxes, salamanders and more! This trail can get muddy after heavy rain so make sure to bring appropriate footwear if planning on hitting this one up during wetter months!

Camping at Kent Falls

The campground at Kent Falls State Park is open from April 1 to October 31 each year and all sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are two large camping areas with picnic tables and fire rings, one along the Housatonic River near the falls, and another just upriver from the main parking area. All sites have access to flush toilets and drinking water. However, there are no showers or electric hookups at this park.

Campers should also be aware that most campsites can only accommodate tents or pop-up trailers due to limited space. Additionally, all vehicles must stay within designated parking areas and no RV camping is allowed here. Campfires are permitted as long as they’re kept under control, but there’s a strict “no fireworks” policy in place for safety reasons.

To get to Kent Falls from Hartford – Map

Take I-84 West and follow signs for US-7 South/Litchfield. Take Exit 7 off of US-7 South and turn right onto Route 341 West. Follow 341 through downtown Kent until you reach Bulls Bridge Road (Route 45). Turn left onto Bulls Bridge Road and continue straight until you reach Kent School Road on your right hand side. Turn right onto Kent School Road and follow it until you see a sign for Kent Falls State Park on your left after about 4 miles. The entrance to the park is just beyond this sign.
