Tucked away alongside the Overseas Highway on Lower Mantacumbe Key, you’ll find a perfect little beach destination named Anne’s Beach. This area is ideal for a day exploring the Keys’ excellent shallow waters and taking in some time beachside in one of the few sites that has soft sandy shores.

This beach is perfect for those looking for a more secluded and intimate adventure. While it may not have the same kind of amenities you might expect from a more populated beach, Anne’s Beach is still a wonderful location to spend the day.

While on the weekends, Anne’s beach does draw a slightly larger crowd, you can still expect to find your own little personal slice of beach to take in the paradise of the Keys.

Activities

Swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kite surfing, and nature viewing are some of the activities you can indulge in while at this beach.

For the swimmers in the group, you should keep in mind that the waters at Anne’s Beach are relatively shallow. If you are interested in doing some deeper water swimming, this might not be the beach for you.

The wading waters extend pretty far out, and because of this, are great for beginner kite surfers.

Flying kites is also fairly popular here. On a breezy day, you can expect to see lines of colorful kites dotting the skyline.

Amenities

Anne’s Beach is small, but there are still some amenities you can use. You can find restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic pavilions, and parking.

There are two parking lots that are connected via a boardwalk. Dotted along the path are the picnic pavilions that offer guests some fantastic views of the water.

The boardwalk itself is surrounded by mangrove trees, making it an experience in itself just walking from one side to the other.

Several walking paths cut into the interior, offering chances to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife that calls the area home. Catch seabirds, crabs, lizards, and plenty of fish in the waters.

Anne’s beach is also a popular destination for dog owners. The area is one of the few that allows animals on the beach, provided they are on leash and cleaned up for.

Nearby Attractions

Just a bit up the Key, you’ll find a little park called Sea Oats Beach. While tiny, this can be an excellent location to take a break and watch the waves crash against the shore.

Another fun location for a quick stop is the Highway Piers Historical Monument. Catch a glimpse of the turquoise waters of the Florida Keys while you walk across this small section of the famous US 1 Overseas Highway.

Anne’s Beach is named after local environmentalist Anne Eaton. Anne and her husband Cyrus traveled the world, advocating for the conservation of our natural wonders.
