High Falls - Rochester

High Falls

By

High Falls is a beautiful and iconic landmark located in Rochester, New York. It is the site of an old mill and hydroelectric plant that was built in 1873 to power a grain-crushing operation. The falls are situated on the Genesee River, which flows through downtown Rochester before it empties into Lake Ontario.

Details about High Falls, Rochester

The High Falls area has been used for recreation since the late 1800s, when people would come to watch logs being driven downriver or take part in fishing tournaments. Today, it’s a popular spot for walking, jogging, biking and picnicking with views of the river below. There is also an observation deck where visitors can get up close and personal with this stunning waterfall as well as two bridges that provide access across the river from one side of town to another.

High Falls has become an integral part of Rochester’s identity over time. Many local businesses have incorporated its image into their logos and branding materials, while others have built attractions around it such as restaurants with outdoor seating. High Falls also serves as a reminder of how far industrialization has come since its construction nearly 150 years ago – making it not only visually appealing but historically significant too!
