How to Say Good Afternoon in Chinese
The phrase for “Good Afternoon” in Mandarin Chinese is 下午好 (xiàwǔ hǎo). This translates literally into “afternoon good” but has the same meaning as saying “Good Afternoon” or “Hello” in English.
During afternoon hours is 晚上好 (wǎnshang hǎo) which means ‘good evening’. However this should usually only be used after 4pm or later since before then technically still counts as being part of the afternoon hours!
Similarly, there is also 早上好 (zăoshang hăo) which means ‘good morning‘ so if you want to wish someone well at any time throughout the day you can use these phrases interchangeably depending on what time it currently is!
